Ellen is AMAZING! She is the best therapist I’ve had on BetterHelp. She understands my primary concerns, gives me time to share my thoughts and feelings, and always calls me on my crap (lovingly). She is truly the best and I would recommend her to anyone! Her perspective is always so helpful and I have aha moments every session. I’ve already grown so much in the first 3 weeks with her.

Hello and welcome!

My name is Ellen Minter and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been working in the helping profession for 17 years. Over the years, I have worked with various populations in various capacities. In addition to being a therapist, I have spent time as a teacher, sexual assault victim advocate, hospice social worker, and direct support professional for the developmentally disabled. I learned many things in these roles and it is those things, accompanied with my own personal life experiences that have most equipped me with the necessary skills and understanding to help you navigate the transitions of your life.

My therapeutic style is humorous, warm, and direct. While my role may be to help you feel better, I find that minimizing and appeasement are counterproductive to that goal. Always, I am honest and direct. I am very open-minded and I try to be respectful of all I work with. I have a bit of a multi-modal approach. I find that various techniques from different approaches, can work in conjunction in different situations.

Life is hard and unpredictable. I hope to help make things easier for you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Ellen is the best. I have really enjoyed working with her and can already see improvements in my life, my relationships with family and friends and most importantly my relationship with myself. Ellen is thoughtful, kind, pushes me just enough but never rushes me or makes me feel unheard or misunderstood. I started speaking with Ellen 9 months ago and at the time I was very depressed and struggling with low self-esteem. I had recently ended a long-term relationship and I was having issues with family members. Since working together I’ve began to have a more positive outlook on life, and I feel like we have worked through so many issues in different ways. Ellen is honest caring respectful and when appropriate adds her sense of humour which I am grateful for. She is an amazing therapist and I enjoy every session with her. Working with Ellen has been so, for lack of a better word, therapeutic. She listens well but she isn't just a sounding board; she is incredibly insightful and has a knack for asking the right questions at the right moment. She challenges me and pushes me to grow but it always feels like she's on my side. Most importantly, I feel like I'm making progress through working with her. Her style, with me, has been largely conversational. We laugh often but I've cried too. No matter how our conversations go, I feel safe, supported and respected.

Over the years I have attempted therapy several times and have found it difficult to relate to the doctors or counselors I have been assigned. Ellen is a breath of fresh air. She has a fun and honest approach to therapy. One of the things I enjoy about her the most is that she responds compassionately, while simultaneously holding me accountable. I love her approach to CBT, which makes it less daunting. She is truly a lovely person and deeply cares for her clients. I wish her all the best.
