Hello, I am Dr. Bard Schatzman, Licensed Psychologist in both Missouri and Arizona. I have worked for many decades as a Licensed Psychologist providing mental health services to individuals, couples, families & groups of all ages. Mental health issues have ranged from life adjustments, developmental and parenting issues, to severe mental disorders. Issues presented and concerns may focus on substance usage, relationships, feeling depressed, anxious, lonely, fearful, traumatized, self-doubting, etc.
My approach to counseling is interactive, a therapeutic alliance in which you, the client, contributes to the decision-making in establishing and prioritizing goals, expectations, and course of treatments. By the end of the first session, we should agree to goals, expectations, and course of treatment. The intent of the initial session is to explore and discover more about you, to obtain a complete picture of what you are experiencing, and those influences that may be contributing to your issues and concerns. During the first session you will disclose what you feel is important for me to hear & know. Your comments will trigger my need to ask you additional related questions. My questions of you maybe of a historical biological, sociological and/or psychological nature. Following the first session, we will be more focused on being solution focused, using a mixture of counseling therapy approaches, such as psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, humanistic, and solution-focused therapy.
Everyone has challenges in life, expected and unexpected, ranging from difficult to overwhelming, maybe even devastating. Making the decision to attend counseling is frequently considered the last option in seeking help. It takes courage and willingness to be vulnerable to attend counseling. Making changes is difficult, it takes consistent effort, and determination. I appreciate your courage and willingness to be vulnerable, and I will be supportive and empowering of your efforts to meet our agreed upon goals. If you are ready for counseling, take the first step.
I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Listens and responds to every word you say, makes me see things differently, I don’t feel judge by Dr. Schatzman but totally support from him
I’ve had one session with Dr. Schatzman. He listened with empathy and helped me see clearly what was happening in my relationship. He gave me a written assignment. He’s experienced and cares.
I've had multiple therapists over two decades, and Dr Schatzman is far and away the best & most empathetic I've ever worked with. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a good listener and an accountability buddy in your mental health journey.
Dr. Schatzman has been an excellent therapist for me. He listens well to my problems and took the time to understand me specifically, helping me to develop the tools I needed to handle my emotions myself moving forward. His recommendations were always easily manageable and well within reason for the problems I was facing. I can't overstate how much I appreciate having him to talk through my issues and find solutions for them.
My 1st session was great. With more sessions I anticipate my experiences will continue to be great
Dr. Schatzman is my first therapist, he truly helped me heal and close up any open wounds from my childhood trauma. He challenged me and gave me homework to work on, which kept me motivated. He not only validates you, but also makes you think deeply about the situations. I am honored to be paired with him. He is a great therapist.
Best interaction I have ever had with a therapist. He’s great.
My experience with Dr. Schatzman has been wonderful. He listened well and pulled meaning out of my situation that I wasn't seeing. We worked well together and my situation is now resolving. I would use him again if needed and refer him to others. Thank you, Dawn Jacobs
Dr Schatzman has been wonder to work with. He really drilled down to my root cause and we have really worked on it. When I get off course in a session with some distraction he gently brings me back to keep working on my core issue. It’s really been a great experience
Dr. Schatzman made me feel comfortable speaking about my issues during my first session. This was important to me because I’m a very private person.
Dr. Schatzman is very good at listening to what the concerns are, addresses them appropriately and gives great suggestions on how to work through the issue.
