My name is Katie Hickok and I have been working as a social worker for over 11 years. I have my MSW from Grand Valley State University in Michigan where I grew up. I had the opportunity to live in Chicago for a few years as well to get a taste of life in a bigger city. I started out with in foster care where I did a variety of things including therapy, and Supervising both traditional as well as High needs Foster care cases. I have also worked with young adults who were aging out of Foster Care and learning to live independently. I have done traditional outpatient therapy for two years and have found telehealth to be a unique and helpful tool to help clients where they are at. I believe that in order for therapy to be beneficial there needs to be trust built between the therapist and client, but that is my responsibility to help my clients feel safe enough to start to build that trust. I am experienced in helping clients with Trauma, Anxiety, and depression. I also have experience helping clients who may not be experiencing a mental health issue but would like assistance in navigating through a tough phase of life such as death, transition to a new stage in life, or relationship concerns. I believe everybody can benefit from therapy as it is so helpful to have somebody that is just there for the individual as a objective, and well trained support.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
