Tami is a great therapist. She was able to identify my root problem in our first session, she response to my message promptly. During session she often verify with me if I understand her explanation by asking questions. She also give me resources and tools to work on. I am very satisfied with Tami and would love to recommend her to my friends or anyone when they need help.

I am thrilled about my experience with Tami so far! I was a little nervous that doing sessions completely online wouldn't have as much of an impact-- but just a few weeks into meeting with Tami and I've already seen my mood and energy drastically shift. When listening to me, she's really great at identifying the key driver behind what's going on (so many 'ah ha!' moments). I also love that she takes our sessions beyond just identifying the root issue and talking about it-- she actually gives exercises I can do during the week to break the physiological response my body has when triggered emotionally by these issues. This has been so eye opening for me already-- realizing the power of that mind/body connection. Tami's method has me feeling empowered and excited for the work we have to do together.

More about Tami

  • LCSW

Hello and Welcome! My name is Tami Sasson and I am an LCSW, licensed in the State of New York. I received my MSW from Washington University in St.Louis in 2016. Prior to practicing clinically, I have 7 years of experience working in the helping profession ranging from crisis nurseries to homeless shelters to school systems, learning everything I can about how to help people holistically and integratively. Since practicing clinically, I have expanded to working with children, families and adults in a variety of ways including individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy and life coaching.

My approach to treatment is that all of us are already whole. Treatment is not about fixing, “making better” or becoming something different. It’s about uncovering who and what we are underneath the traumas we’ve experienced, the wounding we’ve endured and the cultural/religious/familial/societal conditioning we have taken on. I view the therapy process as the roadmap to returning home to ourselves in a loving, accepting, compassionate way.

I am trained in a variety of therapy modalities including EMDR, Somatic Therapy, Inner Child Healing, DBT, EFT, Movement Therapy, Nature Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, Motivational Interviewing and more. I have commited a lot of time to studying trauma, the brain and the nervous system and I believe strongly in supporting clients in learning how to “self-heal” and regulate their bodies and minds. I don’t have a cookie cutter approach and meet each client exactly where they are at with their own individualized treatment plan that we create together. I never assume that something will work for everyone and am eclectic and flexible in my approach to meeting each client’s needs.

First and foremost I focus on the therapist/client relationship as the foundation to a successful therapeutic outcome. Your feelings of safety are the most important thing in our relationship and I do not take this lightly. I strive to create a safe, judgement-free space for you to show up exactly as you are, where you are and with what you have. I believe that there is hope for everyone no matter your circumstance and I work with you to not only move through what feels impossible and heavy but to also re-connect with play, joy and lightness.

You are in charge of the therapy process and we go where you need. I partner with you as your co-leader while you heal, make big changes and move your life in the direction you desire. We will approach this process with unconditional compassion and curiosity.

Please reach out with any questions you have. I am here to speak with you more in depth about my practice and if I am the right fit for you and your circumstances. Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming (been there) and I will do my best to support you in this process. Choosing to pursue therapy is a courageous, brave and extremely empowering decision and I applaud you for this.

Looking forward to connecting!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
