More about Angela

  • 25 years' experience

Hi, my name is Angie and I'm a licensed professional counselor with 25 years of experience in the field of psychology. I currently practice in the State of Texas but I am originally from Michigan. That was where I started out working in a residential treatment facility with children and adolescents. After that I worked in partial hospitalization program for adults, a domestic violence shelter and a community mental health center. I relocated to Texas 10 years ago and have had the opportunity to work in an adolescent partial hospitalization program, an Employee Assistance Program and currently I have a private practice. I have worked with children as young a 5 and adults in their 80's, doing individual, couples and family therapy.

I am empathetic and compassionate, believing that this is your journey and I am here to assist you as a partner. Therefore, I am first and foremost a person-center, solution-focused counselor. I received training in Cognitive Behavioral therapy by the Beck Institute and have additional training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy but believe in an eclectic approach to treatment using Psychotherapy, Existentialism and a Humanistic approach. My specializations are trauma, depression, anxiety and eating disorders.

I look forward to meeting and assisting you on your journey. Remember: the past is a place of reference, not residence. Let's look to the future together and find a path that will lead us to achieving your goals.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Angie helped me a ton with my self-confidence in my personal life and my professional life. I was incredibly stressed with everything I had in my life and she helped me sort through it and build skills to reduce my stress. I have significant anxiety towards transitions and change and she helped me talk through this anxiety and find intrinsic and extrinsic strategies to reduce this anxiety and help me move through transitions with more ease. Angie was always friendly and welcoming, and super supportive. I feel much more capable thanks to Angie.

Reviewed June 2020

Angie is very understanding, kind, and experienced. For some reason, so far, I enjoy her answers over chat more than via video session. We haven't spoken very much though. We've only had 1 video session. I like her, but I wish she'd give me more techniques and practical ways to deal with what's going on with me before the session ended. I know other people don't like "HW," but I sure do.

Reviewed May 2020

Angie is a very warm, caring person, and that really comes through in conversations with her. It's what drew me to her in the first place, when choosing my new counselor, and it's been a huge help in opening up to her in therapy.
