For me, this was the best pairing possible. She is very understanding and has a lot of patience with your needs and going through a lot from anxiety and trauma and managing all that comes with it afterward. She has helped me a lot with mourning, and PTSD and my life has greatly improved knowing how to deal with anxiety and specific triggers that made certain social interactions very difficult for me. I 100% recommend Colette.

Sometimes it’s hard to reach out for help when life gets difficult. I’m so glad you did, and I hope I can play a role in supporting and encouraging you. I’d like to help you learn and use strategies to address your concerns and problems, and to achieve satisfaction, fulfillment, and peace of mind.

The question I begin with is not “What is wrong with you?” but rather, “What has happened to you?” I want to establish a safe, nonjudgmental and compassionate space for my clients to share their personal stories and experiences. We will collaborate to weave together elements of patterns, strengths, and coping skills to increase self-awareness, improve relationships, and promote healing and growth.

Maybe you are struggling with anxiety or depression, or experiencing the effects of past or current trauma or abuse. Perhaps you are adjusting to an important life event such as the loss of a loved one or a significant relationship, a career change, a health issue. Maybe you are having difficulties in a significant relationship. I hope to be instrumental in your engagement in the dynamic process of creating positive change. I offer compassion and flexibility, knowledge and experience. I think humor, as well, is so important! It is a way to acknowledge that, although life can be painful, there is also joy to be found.

I have worked in the mental health field for 14 years. I am experienced and trained in evidence-based therapeutic modalities: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I have worked with survivors of abuse, domestic violence, and trauma. I have worked with individuals with mood disorders, OCD, anxiety and depression, co-occurring disorders, and anger issues. I approach each client as a whole person, not just a set of diagnoses, and we work as a team, to match interventions with your particular needs.

I believe I have the skills and experience, and most importantly, the desire, to help you. Thank you for reaching out!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Colette Spaulding is such an amazing therapist. She listens openly and has helped me work through some of my hardest times with care and validation. Her expertise helps me see situations and emotions in a new perspective which helps me work through them in a much better way. She also offers great insight and exercises that help me think deeper and use better tools that are applicable in a variety of situations.

Colette is very easy to talk to, is an excellent listener and is willing to share things from her personal life to help me accept the way I have handled things in the past. She is empathetic and made me feel better about myself. She validated to me that what I did when my daughter had a traumatic experience made sense at the time so I didn’t feel so bad about how I handled it in the past. This really helped me process what had happened. Colette helped me start the road to recovery with my daughter by pulling out of me what I needed and wanted and then helping me formulate good questions to start the dialogue with my daughter. My conversation with my daughter was very productive and we have a good start at improving our relationship. I would definitely recommend her.

My therapist very quickly made me feel at ease and safe to be able to share anything her. She always asks the right questions that help me make some sense of my messy past and my messy feelings. She helps me get a better understanding of myself and become more mature. I would recommend Colette to anyone :)

I have had the most amazing experience with Colette as my therapist. She is absolutely amazing at what she does. She is empathetic and kind and despite the challenge of trying to help remotely across a phone or video call always so good at picking up on what is going on and offering help. She has a great sense of humour and so sessions are not just helpful and useful but also so much fun! For me, she has offered the best balance of listening and offering feedback while also being prescriptive when required and offering more concrete steps and strategies to help with my issues. I cannot recommend her enough, and am extremely grateful to have been matched with her - she has made my therapy experience absolutely amazing!

Colette really seems to understand how I’m feeling and how my experiences contribute to what I am struggling with now. She explains well how and why this is happening, and gives me ideas and strategies to consider and try, to help improve how I’m coping.

Reviewed August 2020

As credibility and quality go, I would be hard suited to recommend any therapist/counsellor as credible as Collette. Professional and down to earth, she manages to reach down to whatever level I am be on, whatever mood, whatever mental state, and connect with me in a way I find reassuring, comforting, and strengthening. Not only is her advice and ideas very thought-provoking, but there is massively practical element to almost everything she says and my interactions with psychiatrists in my own time has greatly increased now I know where I am and where I should be heading for. It may sound childish or inane, but the greatest thing she achieves is reminding me that at the end of each session, every day, every week, every moment in my life, the aim is to be happy. To live life to its fullest capability, and look back with pride and joy. This is difficult naturally with life being a cathartic concept in itself, but from the soft tone and the same question at the beginning of each session ‘how have you been?’, the self-reflection expands and I feel almost as if, while she learns more about me, and my habits, traits, natures, I do too. I do not, for even a moment feel like I am blocked out from learning and maturing, and that she deliberately means for me to introspect and grow, and that it is a brilliant thing to do, intellectually, mentally, and in every other way. I feel actively excited to communicate with her, to reel me back from reckless behaviours, and to be praised in learning from my mistakes.

Reviewed June 2020

Empathetic, attentive, supportive, while remaining realistic and reasonable. She makes me feel seen and accepted while holding me accountable to the goals that I set for myself.

Reviewed May 2020

Colette is compassionate, patient, insightful and intuitive. She provides a good balance between tangible strategies and concepts in understanding what may be going on while remaining personable, relatable and human. There can be as much structure as needed or we can just go with the flow when needed - a safe, free, and trusting environment. Thank you Colette :) !

I’ve been to therapy a few times throughout my life but Colette is the first counsellor that I could really connect to. Sessions feel very open and more like a conversation that end up making me think and evaluate instead of being put on the spot and confronted with all the bad things. In short, it’s like talking to a friend about your problems but your friend also happens to know EXACTLY what their talking about when they give you advice.
