Hello and welcome to my online profile! Asking for help can be very intimidating and I applaud for you taking this step. I believe that we are all on our own journey and living our best life means building meaningful, authentic connections with others. As a therapist, I'm certified in EMDR which means I'm always listening for how present day challenges are connected to past experiences and what thoughts (good or bad) you have about yourself as a result. I also use DBT and other forms of cognitive behavior therapy to help clients improve the way they see themselves, others, and the world.
In terms of training, I completed my undergraduate studies at Midwestern State University, earning a Bachelor of Social Work in 2007. I graduated from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work in 2009. I've had experience working with teens in crisis, youth in foster care, women in recovery, adults with chronic mental illness, and more. My approach is nonjudgemental and collaborative; I want to hear your story and help you reach your goals. I look forward to working together! Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Leah was a huge help!
Leah is awesome. She has a way of getting right to the heart of my struggles and giving me the timely help I need.
She has been amazing!
Leah has done wonders for me by pulling me out of a deep dark hole in which I was buried. I knew I needed counseling, but I didn't understand how much until I regained the energy I've been lacking. I am now much more proactive with my daily interactions and decisions. I have also had a major confidence boost in myself, regained trust in my romantic relationship, and reconnected with family. I owe it to Leah for listening to my rants and giving me the nudges I've been needing.
Leah was absolutely amazing! She always went beyond listening & heard what I wasn't saying. But she made sure to approach it with a stern gentleness that pushed me towards achieving goals & taking responsibility for my actions! She didn't make therapy seem intimidating with her cool laid back attitude and use of everyday language.
Leah is an excellent person to talk to. I’m so glad I found BetterHelp!
Leah is great. That about sums it up.
Thoughtful, kind, and unbiased. She makes our sessions feel safe and personable. I know she’s listening by what she can restate or recall back to me.
Leah is intelligent and well-read without showing off. If you are a Christian, she is very comfortable with the doctrines and scriptures and how they support mental health. She takes her job seriously -- she's always focused. And she's kind, generous, and full of positivity.
I worked with Leah for several months. She helped me with issues of trauma, dissociation, attachment and coping skills. She is a very skilled and gifted therapist. She was thoughtful about her approach and what she said. She was an excellent listener and noticed changes in my voice and body language during video sessions. She was also great at picking up on and addressing issues when reading my messages and journal entries. She helped me stay emotionally regulated and taught me coping skills. I loved that she was curious about, asked questions and didn’t make assumptions about me. I loved that she gave homework between sessions and gave feedback when I asked her questions and when she noticed things that might be important when I messaged her. She was great at helping me think about things that might help me cope. She was very kind , gentle, had a calming influence on me and helped me learn to trust more. I highly recommend Leah.
Leah is a great listener and very understanding person . She of course seems to be very caring about my situation but also about the daily life I live outside of that. She has given me great material to help with my addiction and what like mostly is her christian knowledge.
Leah has been a great counselor to work with over these past few months! She really listens to my concerns and makes it really easy to speak openly with her. She even picks up on little things that I've said in past sessions and helps me realize things that I didn't know I was feeling. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with her!
She makes you feel very comfortable and makes it easy to open up to her. She listens to you and you can tell she is really trying to understand what you're going through and puts thought into her response before she responds in any way, which is nice.
I’ve just started to work with Leah and so far she’s been excellent! She’s very kind, attentive, and really encouraging. I feel like her sessions are really helping me to work through my grief in a healthy way.
Leah is awesome. She challenges you to look at the way you think and react to life around you and pushes you to work through the things that are holding you back in life. I would 10/10 recommend.
Leah is such a great listener. She is able identify my concerns, asks the right questions to gain more insight, provide the necessary support to me & the tools/resources I need to better manage my life, cope & meet my goals.
Leah Gillam is receptive to concerns and desires to receive from therapy. In addition, she gives me tangible tools to use and experiment with (like journaling with precise things to say). I look forward to our sessions.
