Hello and welcome to BetterHelp! I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about me. My name is Karen and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. I have 19 years experience working in Mental Health. I currently work in a private practice outside of Pittsburgh. Although I have experience working with teenagers and their families in the past, I primarily work with adults and couples.

I believe taking care of our emotional health is just as important as taking care of our physical health. One can affect the other. Going to see a therapist, should be just as natural as going to see your primary doctor. Sometimes we don’t realize how our thoughts, our work, and our interactions with friends and family can have an impact on how we feel. I can help you explore this. I use a variety of strategies in therapy depending on the client and the problem. I have experience working with clients that struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem and family issues. I’m glad that you have taken this step to access our site so you can explore therapy and can begin to feel better.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
