Mankind is made of strong stuff; we are resilient and adaptive by nature. Sometimes we forget this, and allow self-doubt to bog us down. I have trained in many tools of the trade over the years, but the most effective strategy I have found in helping others is to help them to find the answers they seek within themselves. Using this approach, with tools from Dialectical, Cognitive, Behavioral, Psychoanalytic, Life-Stage, Systems, Holistic, Biofeedback, and other schools of thought, there is nothing that you cannot overcome. from temporary life challenges to severe mental illness. I have experience across a range of populations: children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, forensics, geriatrics, residential settings, crisis counseling, and the severely mentally ill. I am currently a behavioral health supervisor in a setting providing mobile services to the seriously mentally ill. I have worked as a Social Worker since 2001 and find my life more enriched with each and every experience.

My name is Jane Meyers, and I am an LCSW-R from Upstate NY. I am 48 years old, have three children (adult). I have been interested in psychology and anything to do with human behavior for as long as I can remember. My first Associate's Degree was from a local community college, and from there I finished my bachelor's degree through an online state university program. I received my Master of Social Work Degree from Marywood University.

I have practice privately on the side, largely to broaden my range of experience with different populations and modalities of therapy. I have long felt that telecounseling will be able to provide services to those who might not otherwise be able to engage with a therapist, so I am very pleased to be able to work in this manner.

I look forward to learning from each and every one of you in our work together.

Jane has been my therapist for over 4 months now, and I've found her to be warm, non-judgemental, encouraging and constructive. I really appreciate that Jane is able to gently and without judgement challenge me at times when I'm maybe not being completely honest with myself about something. This doesn't happen often, but she seems to just instinctively know when the right time is to apply a little gentle pressure, whilst always maintaining that this is a safe and welcoming space. I also really appreciate that Jane seems to respect me as a person and doesn't ever talk down to me or underestimate my intelligence. Without getting into it... Jane has been amazing at going slow and working on everything as it comes up or not in my life time of trauma. Helping me with paperwork from another country that I'm sure she doesn't have to do. She has been perfect for me and my needs. Could not recommend enough! I've been working with Jane since last April. I had never really dealt with any sort of real anxiety before and, as the world was shutting down due to COVID, I was also very sick with another issue. The stress of not being able to walk, being bedridden, the pandemic, and the incessant 24 hours a day of sirens in NYC just took me beyond a brink. My wife had used Betterhelp (or other services) for years and she recommended I talk to someone about what I was dealing with. At the time I was having debilitating anxiety attacks that made me feel like I couldn't breath, as if I was having heart-related issues (ultimately sending me to see a cardiologist multiple times), and even resulted in us having to call 911 one evening because I felt like my throat was closing up. Jane worked very closely with me on methods for managing my anxiety with various exercises and processes. She also encouraged me to spend time considering the things that do and don't work for me during my periods of anxiety and to recall those when I am having another attack. Over the last 10 months, I've progressively gotten better and better and she and I have actually moved on to talk about other things including my marriage and issues with my family. All the while she has been a really great listener, always provides constructive and helpful feedback and gives me good perspectives to consider. I'm sure that one way or another I would have come through the pandemic either way, but I don't think that I would be in the place that I am now without having Jane be there for me throughout the worst of times. I am very grateful for her help and talks over the better part of the last year and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Thanks for everything, Jane!
