I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Vermont and Michigan providing client-centered therapy to teens, adults, couples, and families. I am experienced in working with a variety of individual issues and diagnoses including treating thought disorders, mood disorders, emotional dysregulation, relationship issues and addictions. I draw from a variety of interventions & constructs including cognitive behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, relationship therapy and family systems theory.
I am a native Michigander born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI and now lives in Howell with his wife and three children. After earning a Bachelors degree in Child Development and Family Studies from Purdue University I pursued a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan. Following my masters degree I have pursued licensure in Social Work and hold a specialty license as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Vermont.
During my career as a Social Worker I have dedicated myself to on-going study and specialty training in a wide-range of therapeutic interventions including Trauma Informed interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, motivational interviewing and enhancement mindfulness-based stress reduction. I lean towards strength-based interventions with clients and believes in the strength and resiliency of the individuals I works with. Typically I develop a relational approach with clients that will both meet you where you’re at and challenge you to address your core issues and needs.
I currently work for a wilderness therapy program as a parent program therapist. Throughout my career I have worked in outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment facilities providing individual, family and group therapy to both adolescents and adults.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Overall rating:
Peter has worked with me to significantly improve my health and relationships. He’s a great listener and communicator.
Peter uses a gentle, direct, and intuitive approach to his session. His motivational interviewing skills are effective in directing his clients toward independent decision making.
Peter has helped me more in 2 weeks than my last counsellor helped me in 3 months. The resources he provides are extremely useful and prove that he listens to me and understands my concerns. From the first session, I felt comfortable opening up and talking about myself, which I very often find difficult to do. I also see it as a plus that I was able to talk about my anxiety to him without crying -- something that I couldn't do before. To me, this signals an improvement in emotional strength and resiliency. While I don't think I'm completely cured of my anxiety just yet, I do feel hopeful for the future.
