Tara has been an enormous help to me. I am new to therapy and considered it for a long time but I don’t have any regrets trying it online first. It’s important to me to have a flexible method of communication. I’m not always “in the mood” to really talk about stuff when I’m busy or tired, and this app allows me to have some flexibility. Tara is very understanding and works with my schedule, which means I can focus on how I’m feeling and how to improve my mental health instead of finding time for appointments. She usually says exactly what I need to hear and isn’t frustrated when I need reminders. I don’t know what I was so afraid of, but I wish I had done this sooner.

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Oregon, and I have over 12 years of experience working with individuals dealing with mental illness. I have worked both in private practice and in an acute care psychiatric hospital providing individual, group, and family therapy. I am comfortable treating all mental health issues, including helping those in crisis, and I have extensive experience working with individuals dealing with self-injury, anxiety/depression, pre and postpartum depression, and PTSD, and abuse issues.
My philosophy in working with all clients is to provide the best well-rounded care while focusing and building upon the strengths of the individual so that healthy coping patterns can be developed. As a therapist, I strive to cultivate trusting and meaningful relationships in which my clients find the comfort they need to explore difficult issues and emotions. I am passionate about empowering my clients and leading them through a journey of self-discovery to assist them in arriving at new insights and realizations. My approach is warm and supportive and I combine cognitive-behavioral, person centered, and dialectal behavioral counseling into my sessions. I will always make sure to tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
Reaching out for help takes a lot of courage, and I would be honored to work with you. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you in reaching your goals.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Tara very professional.
Tara is the best councilor I’ve ever had. I strongly recommend her to anyone.
Very understanding, very flexible, very good listener. Willing to work with you in what way you feel would be most helpful. Explains why she takes the approach she does or why she feels a certain therapeutical approach would be helpful and the science behind it. Willing to go the distance to help you.
Tara is awesome. She always responds so quickly and has so much good information. The last few months have been the hardest of my life, but she has been helping me through everything with great resources and a caring approach. She really has a heart of gold and I'm grateful she is my counselor. :)
Tara always listens and supports me on my bad days and encourages my progress.
Tara takes the time to read and understand what I have written her. Her responses are long and thoughtful. She tries to touch on all of my concerns and asks questions to get me thinking and to better understand the issues. She offers helpful advice and checks in with me if I have not responded in a while. I would recommend Tara Cook as a councilor.
This was my very first time seeking therapy and I was ready to look for any excuse to say it doesn’t work but I tried. From my very first session with Tara, in the very first minutes, she gave me a glimpse to all the benefits surely to come. I was ready to end my subscription ASAP, especially with the financially difficulties we are all facing, but she has provided a safe space for me to finally deal with my issues in a healthy manner.
Tara is both thoughtful and kind and also amazingly intuitive in her manner of counseling. Trust was of utmost importance at the start and that formed quickly as a result of Tara's honest and open approach. I could not have been linked with a better counselor and I thank you most sincerely for making this happen!
Tara is a fantastic counselor. She's been my counselor for about 2 years now, and has helped me more than I could have ever imagined. I never thought I would be someone that would ever see a counselor, but now I actually look forward to our sessions. Tara helped me learn to deal with my depression, my divorce, and learning how to deal with my two teenage daughters. If feel like she really listens to me and gives helpful, appropriate advice. She's always there for me, has inspired me to take care of myself, and challenges me to grow as an individual and a father. I can't thank Tara enough for helping me through some of the most challenging times I've ever experienced.
Tara is wonderful and has helped me so much.
Tara is an excellent listener and I feel that she supports me completely. It’s so nice to have someone in my corner helping me sort out the complexities of life. I never got it when people would joke about wanting to be friends with their therapists until I began working with Tara.
Tara is amazing!! She has helped me through a slew of issues and I always look forward to our sessions every week.
She does a very good job and listens and checks in on me between sessions.

Tara has been an amazing comfort. As a less than social person having someone to message at any time in my life is a relief I can’t adequately explain. Tara is an amazing counselor to any seeking help.
Tara is a great person to talk to. She is open and listens well. Her response time is fantastic and I have appreciated her expertise thus far.
In the time that Tara has been working with and helping me through my personal battles, I have felt instantly comfortable opening up to her. After sharing my struggles with Tara, she has not only listened, but has touched on deeper emotions that I didn't know how to acknowledge on my own. She has made me feel as though my goals are realistic and achievable. I am excited to continue counseling with Tara and see what kind of results Im capable of achieving with her help.
Tara helps me develope coping skills to navigate problems I have had for years with anxiety and PTSD. She is supportive and patient and helps me to feel safe when talking about issues that I have felt uncomfortable talking about in the past.
She does a wonderful job and seems genuinely concerned for me.
Tara is an amazing counselor. I feel like she helped me solve my personal issues in a timely and efficient manner and helped me learn how to tackle the problem head on which is not something I had before. I would strongly recommend her to anyone looking into therapy for personal growth goals.

Tara is my partner on my mental and emotional wellness journey. I appreciate that she is there when I need her and patiently checks in when I get too busy to respond.
Tara is the best, in less than a month we uncovered issues and I was able to move past things that were holding me back for almost a decade. I look forward to our interactions and have received far more value from her sessions than I could have ever imagined.
Extremely understanding and willing to seek out information that is really applicable to my varied requests/inquiries. I feel really supported!
In the short time I have worked with Tara, I feel she has genuinely shown me wonderful coping skills. I am working toward a more confident self, and when I speak with Tara I feel like I’m speaking with an old friend. She has a very warm and nurturing personality, she is a wonderful listener, and she doesn’t make you feel like she’s judging you when in a session. I am so appreciative of Tara and all her support in my journey!
I find Tara Cook to be extremely approachable. I was pleasantly surprised with how much information she had ready for me after talking over the phone. I can be the type of person who believes they have already thought of everything but Tara had some ways of looking at what I said that made so much sense but I honestly hadn't thought about it. I very much look forward to continuing working with her. She makes me glad I took a chance on BetterHelp.
You have always been so supportive and encouraging and ask the right questions and help me figure out what I’m actually figuring out.
Tara provided some very helpful insight and suggestions as I worked through my relationship challenges; she is kind and observant, very much like talking to a friend who has known me for a long time.
