Hi!

Welcome to BetterHelp! I'm Jane. Congratulations on taking this step toward personal understanding and growth! It takes wisdom to identify that you could benefit from a professional's insight and assistance. It takes even more courage to actually reach out. Thank you for allowing me to be the person you trust.

I'm an LCSW licensed in North Carolina. My education began with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from UNLV. My MSSW came from University of Tennessee. My counseling work began in Memphis, TN and over the years I have worked with a wide variety of people ranging from children to geriatrics. The types of issues I have expertise in is also quite varied. From sexual assault to depression and anxiety to chronic mental illness to hospice, I've done it.

The first thing of importance in counseling is developing a trusting rapport. If you are not comfortable, it's hard to engage and make progress. My general approach to therapy is one of figuring out what fits my client's needs. I don't fit you into my style; I make the style and intervention fit YOU. I’m a firm believer that the success of therapy is not that a therapist “fixes you” or tells you what to do. It is about a relationship focused on discovery and solutions. You are the expert of your life and it is up to you, with my guidance and support, to implement changes that will bring you to a more satisfying place in life. I want YOU to feel the pride of success in overcoming these challenges.

You can do this!! I very much look forward to walking this road with you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I make things difficult by treating Jane like a shaman sometimes, sharing wacky poems and what not, and by being entirely insane. She guides the conversation in productive ways and hears what I’m saying.

Jane is a phenomenal counselor I honestly feel like shes undercharging for her service. She is what counselors should strive to be; in our sessions i feel safe where i don't anywhere in my life.

Jane is an easygoing person who is easy to trust. She has a certain way of gaining information she needs to guide me In order to see things more clearly and gives me ideas and strategies to help me work through my issues. I am very happy with her as my Counselor

Reviewed July 2020

Jane brings a warmth and sense of intuition to her practice that has been honed over many years' experience. She approaches each of her sessions with me with infinite patience; with a deft hand, she guides me logically through each problem I broach, with gentleness and understanding. She mirrors my humour in a way that puts me completely at ease. Jane makes me feel as though we have known each other for years; although to say that this is an innate ability would be to discredit her skill and experience - I've no doubt whatsoever in my mind that Jane is capable of making anyone and everyone she encounters feel just as heard, understood, supported and encouraged. BetterHelp has a treasure of a Counsellor bearing their name. Thank you Jane for all of your help.

Jane has been a wonderful counsellor to me over the last several months. When I started, I had a lot of self doubt, deep rooted sadness, guilt and lack of self esteem. Jane was the first person assigned to me when I signed up on BetterHelp, and I feel very fortunate to have found a counsellor that I felt comfortable talking with from the get go. We have built and continue to build a great rapport, and I can honestly say that I feel like I’ve come a long way; in terms of my confidence level and self determination, since I started talking with her.
